Pretty lock gates mark the point at which the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation reaches the river Blackwater. The gates still work today and the canal is home to many shapes and sizes of pleasure craft. The area is popular with walkers and bird watchers while the less energetic can take in the scenery from one of the two riverside pubs.
